Karl V. Clemons, PhD

Karl ClemonsKarl V. Clemons is a Senior Research Scientist at the California Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) and Senior Lecturer in Medicine at Stanford University. He is the Director of the Laboratory Animal Facility, Institutional Biosafety Officer and Responsible Official (Select Agents) for the CIMR.

His research on mycoses has included the development of animal models for studies of pathogenesis, host-resistance, preclinical drug trials, fungal molecular epidemiology, genetics of pathogenesis and cell biology. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and published abstracts.  He has spoken at numerous meetings and served on the organizing committees for international meetings on aspergillosis and coccidioidomycosis.

He is a past Chair and Division Advisor of Division F of the American Society for Microbiology.  He is an Associate Editor for Medical Mycology, on the Editorial Board of Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for other scientific journals.
